Introducing the First Community Spotlight: Meet Lars Schneider, Cybersecurity Thought Leader

🔦 Introducing the First Community Spotlight - Meet Lars Schneider @channel Great communities aren't built on content - they're built on people. And that's exactly why we're introducing the Community Spotlight: a new format where we put one of our members front and center. No panels, no keynotes - just real insights from someone who shows up, shares their perspective and makes this community what it is.
What does it take to be featured? No application needed. What we look for is simple: members who engage genuinely - whether that's asking a question, sharing an experience, jumping into a discussion, or helping someone else find their footing. The kind of presence that makes the community feel like a community.
🥁 Our very first Spotlight… We couldn't think of a better person to kick things off than Lars S.. Lars joined the SoSafe Community in October 2025 and has been an active, thoughtful voice ever since. As an Information Security Officer, he brings a sharp and honest perspective to the field, someone who believes that security means telling the truth about risks, even when it's uncomfortable. To celebrate his membership and get to know him a little better, we asked him a few questions. A short profile, in his own words. 👇 Can you tell us a little about your role and what you're working on in cybersecurity right now? I work as an Information Security Officer at a medium sized IT-Company. I would describe myself as a generalist with a strong focus on business processes and people. I highly value integrity, which means being honest about risks, staying true to my position rather than creating security theater. Currently I am working on governing the growing use of AI within our organization. What would you tell someone on their first day in this field? Be bold. Speak the truth even if it feels uncomfortable. Cybersecurity is all about shining light on risks that lie in the dark. At the same time understand the business, get to know the people and find the right balance to make security work in practice. What's something about cybersecurity that most people get wrong? Many people think cybersecurity is about being right. In reality it’s about making the best possible decision in constantly changing conditions and emerging threats. Cybersecurity is highly dynamic and the moment you stop working on it, because you think your security is done, your posture will start to weaken. What does being part of the SoSafe Community mean to you? It gives me the opportunity to exchange with peers and learn from seasoned security leaders. Every company has its own challenges, which gives you new perspectives on awareness topics and helps you improve your own approach. What are you most excited about in the cybersecurity space right now? It’s hard not to be excited about the progress in AI and what it means for cybersecurity. In my view, AI is increasing the importance of cybersecurity for the business. Because without proper security, companies won’t be able to fully use the potential of AI. Lars S., thank you for being our very first Community Spotlight. We're grateful to have you in this community. 🙌
Want to be part of the next Spotlight? We're always looking for members to feature. All it takes is your authentic self and an active presence in the community - joining events, sharing your perspective, engaging with others. If that's you, you might just be our next Spotlight. 🔦
